Results of 2002 for Snoras surpassed expectations

The audited net profit of SNORAS for the fiscal 2002 totalled LTL 10,545 million. The bank has exceeded the target by 13 per cent.

In 2002 SNORAS’ assets grew by more than LTL 216 million and as at the year-end made LTL 1,100 billion (cp. LTL 884 million as at the end of 2001). Today the bank is taking the 4th place by its assets size in Lithuania. It was planned that within the year the assets grow up to LTL 1,085 billion. Although, the final result shows a 1.4 per cent excess.

During the reporting period the deposits grew by nearly one quarter and at the end of December reached LTL 815 million. The volume of individual deposits has increased by almost LTL 120 million (30 per cent) and at the end of the period made LTL 530 million; the December growth totalled LTL 33 million or ¼ of the total growth of the year. It was mainly influenced by a broad service network, the successful Christmas promotion and the increasing appeal of bank and its services.

Advances to clients grew by more than 21 per cent and as on 31.12.2002 got close to LTL 700 million. The volume of long-term loans doubled and exceeded LTL 485 million or 70 per cent of the total credit portfolio. Furthermore, long-term loans to residents grew by over one and a half and at the end of 2002 made LTL 355,6 million. As on 31.12.2002 special provisions to cover possible losses made LTL 15,8 million or 1.4 per cent of the total bank assets; the year’s growth is LTL 7,8 million.

During the reporting period the bank’s capital grew by LTL 9,2 million and made LTL 172,7 million at the end of the year. It is the forth result among Lithuanian banks.

Bank’s ROA made 1.09 per cent, and ROE reached 6,25 per cent. SNORAS observed all obligatory norms and standards to reduce operation risks. Clients themselves and their number, which during 2002 grew by 38 per cent (private persons), speak about the appeal and flexibility of the bank and its services. Today over 338 thousand private and corporate clients have their account with SNORAS. At the end of December the number of SNORAS' cardholders equalled to 207 thousand, where 139 thousand used eLitoCard and ImparCard chip cards and almost 68 thousand – EuroCard/MasterCard and Maestro international payment cards. In comparison with December 2001, the number of holders of the international payment cards grew by nearly 4,5 times. The total turnover on all cards issued by the bank capped one billion and made LTL 1,130 billion; the growth pace exceeded 40 per cent.

As on 01.03.2003 the number of SNORAS’ ATMs was 250 and that of POS terminals reached 1873.

The bank’s service network numbers ten branches located in all regional centres of Lithuania, 178 saving outlets (as of 01.03.2003) and three foreign representative offices in the capital cities of Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia.
