The Association of Ukrainian Banks (AUB) will make a decision about its membership in the European Bank Federation (EBF) at its 12th Congress on November 25 this year, the agency Interfax-Ukraine reports with reference to the AUB Council.
They amplified at the AUB that at the Congress bankers plan to discuss prospects of the Ukrainian banking system development, as well as ways of increasing the role of the Association in solving system issues.
At present, the EBF membership numbers 19 full members, among which there are national bank associations of countries- members of the European Union, and also those of Iceland, Norway, Swiss and Hungary.
Besides, the EBF has 16 partners — bank associations of countries of Central and East Europe.
The European Bank Federation represents over 4,000 banks with a cumulative volume of assets about EUR 20 trillion.
In accordance with the rules of the Federation, the AUB may be granted with a status of a EBF associated member.
Membership in the EBF, apart from other things, requires payment of fees, which are differentiated depending upon the scale of the banking sector of a given country (for the EU countries — on average, EUR 20,000).
